We are a family farm located in Northern Virginia. We began our flock with commercial sheep and have since added registered stock to our farm. We currently have 40 bred ewes with plans to reach 50 ewes in the next 1-2 years. We lamb once per year beginning in mid-late February. We enrolled our flock into NSIP in 2020 with the goal of selecting lambs with balanced EBV's. We are planning to include fecal egg counts into our NSIP data submission this year.

Gestation in sheep varies from 142 to 152 days with the average being 147 days. Just like people, individual pregnancies can vary, gestation periods of 138 to 159 days are not unheard of. Ewes carrying multiple lambs tend to have shorter gestations while male lambs (and heavy birth weight lambs) are usually carried for longer than female lambs. The form above calculates the lambing date based on a 147 day gestation period.
