Located in Southwest VA, Shepherd’s Way Farm maintains a flock of 100 ewes, both registered and commercial. My flock is mainly raised on pasture with supplementation to ewes in late gestation through early lactation. Creep feed is offered to lambs until weaning. Sires are purchased from the VT AREC Ram test and are an important part of my breeding program. I’m new to NSIP, but I am utilizing EVBs to improve genetics. Fall and spring lambs are available.

Gestation in sheep varies from 142 to 152 days with the average being 147 days. Just like people, individual pregnancies can vary, gestation periods of 138 to 159 days are not unheard of. Ewes carrying multiple lambs tend to have shorter gestations while male lambs (and heavy birth weight lambs) are usually carried for longer than female lambs. The form above calculates the lambing date based on a 147 day gestation period.
